Art - Sculpture and Other Unique Objects

I like nothing more than spending quality time in my shed creating objects from things I have found discarded by others. Usually gaining inspiration from the materials at hand, I aim to produce objects for display in the home or garden.

Many of these items would make unique gifts for any occasion.

LYREBIRDS
I've been really inspired by these beautiful Australian native birds.

This piece sold at Sculpture Bermagui 2020.

STEEL PRAYING MANTIS
This charismatic insect is made from scrap metal. Stainless steel wings and mild steel body, head and legs.
While praying mantises usually look very pious, they are in fact efficient killers, so I have endeavoured to show her true nature in this sculpture.
This piece was SOLD at Gallery on Track in Goulburn.

STEEL CICADA
The sound of cicadas is the sound of summer. At times they are almost deafening, but they are rarely seen. As kids we used to try to catch them; they were treasures to us. With that in mind I made one from scrap steel. I made the wings from stainless steel and the body from mild steel so it would develop a rust-red patina in contrast to the wings.
This piece was recently SOLD at Gallery on Track in Goulburn. http://www.galleryontrack.org

A SLICE OF SYDNEY SEA BED
This piece was inspired by my time working in and around Sydney Harbour as a commercial Diver. Surprising numbers of beautiful little sea horses can be found clinging to marine plants and structures. They are hard to spot at first, but once the eyes know what to look for they seem to appear from nowhere.
SOLD at the 2016 Taralga Art Show. http://www.facebook.com/TaralgaArtShow/
